Central Coast Mariners will be hoping to return to winning ways in the A-League when they play host to FC Sydney at Industree Group Stadium on Sunday morning. The Yellow & Navy are in ninth place in the league standings while the Sky Blues are three places above them in sixth. Let’s get into the match prediction. 

The Central Coast Mariners have made a very poor start to their title defence by their own standards, as they prepare to enter matchday seven with just six points after their first five games. 

A portion of their struggles in the league can be attributed to their participation in the AFC Champions League Elite and having to travel to face the likes of Shangai Port and Vissel Kobe in recent weeks. 

The Mariners failed to win any of their first four games of the season, drawing three and losing one, before notching up a 2-1 win over the Newcastle Jets last time out. 

Meanwhile, Sydney FC have experienced fairly similar struggles, as they too are involved in the Champions League, albeit in the second tier of the competition. 

However, while the Sky Blues have not been at their best in the league competition, they have managed three wins from their five matches, including a 4-2 win against Western Sydney Wanderers last time out. 

The visitors have won one and lost one of their two away league games this season, but did beat this opponent 3-1 at this venue last season.
