Europe the Target at Anfield

by Constance Rigot |

Liverpool aren’t exactly having a 2017 to remember. Out of both the EFL and FA Cup in ties they could have won and slipping out of the top four. Monday’s defeat at Leicester was another disappointing result and now they host fourth placed Arsenal.

The Gunners aren’t having an easy time of it too with an almost inevitable Champions League exit just days after this match. Finishing in the top four is their usual target and avoiding defeat at Anfield will take them another step towards that aim.

Match Result

Wenger Anfield

Liverpool’s first half performance at Leicester on Monday was almost too bad to be true. Ending up losing 3-1 has made this game even more important. A fourth loss at Anfield this year would severely damage their chances of Champions League football next season and they could be four points off the Champions League places by the end of this weekend. A form guide for the past six league games has them down in 16th with just one win in the last six and three losses in the last five. They are quickly becoming a side that baffle their fans. Something just isn’t right with them at present, could it be Klopp’s all-action strategy has tired them out already? Will they play as they did when beating Spurs at home or when losing to Swansea, Hull, and Leicester, all in the bottom six.

Liverpool vs Arsenal

Arsenal are also in trouble but at least they are fourth, a point clear of Liverpool with a game in hand. Win this and that’s a massive step towards another season in the Champions League. They’re unpredictable too though a couple of defeats in their last three league games and three losses in their last five Premier League away matches. A bet on a draw looks advisable here and that’s .

Both Teams to Score

Both these sides need to be sorting their defence out when the next transfer window opens. In terms of attack, they have the players who can continually ensure that their side finds the back of the net. At the other end, though, they find clean sheets a bit difficult to keep and that’s why a bet on both teams to score should be a winner in this game. Liverpool have only kept three clean sheets in their last twelve games and two of those were against League Two Plymouth. For the Gunners, both teams have scored in three of their last five (only Hull and non-league Sutton couldn’t score against them). You can get on both teams scoring in this match.

Anytime Goal scorer

Sanchez premier league

The goals are drying up a bit for Liverpool with just five in their last six matches. Sadio Mane hit two of those when they beat Spurs 2-0 at home in February. He always looks to have a goal in him, so 15/8 on him to find the net in this match looks a good bet. Alexis Sanchez might be in his last season at the Emirates but he’s been scoring regularly for them and is their penalty taker. Go for him to score here anytime in the game, he’s also .
