Quilter Nations Series: England look to extend win streak in final match of 2025 against Argentina
England carrying momentum after epic victory over New Zealand
England have been one of the most impressive teams in world rugby over the second half of 2025, and Steve Borthwick’s side will end the year with an 11-match win streak if they are able to defeat Argentina at Twickenham this weekend. Check out our England vs. Argentina prediction.
The Red Rose come into this fixture following an incredible performance against New Zealand last week, where they confirmed our rugby predictions by coming back from 12-0 down to win the match 33-19 - their first victory over the All Blacks in six years!
That victory took England above Ireland to third place in the World Rankings!
This is the third time that England will face Los Pumas this year. Borthwick’s men defeated Felipe Contepomi’s side twice in the summer series and have won nine of their last 10 encounters, including a 22-17 victory in their last meeting in La Plata.
However, Los Pumas have come on leaps and bounds in recent years, and two of the last three matches between these sides saw England winning by single-digit margins. Argentina won the last time these two faced off at Twickenham - 30-29 back in November 2022.
Borthwick’s move to emulate South Africa’s “Bomb Squad” tactic has paid rich dividends this year, but Contepomi’s big men overturned a 21-point deficit at Murrayfield last week, and they will be determined to replicate that performance in the English capital this weekend.
This year has also been a very positive one for Argentina, who, like their upcoming opponents, are looking to end the Autumn internationals with a 100% record, while they also notched up victories over the British & Irish Lions, New Zealand and Australia in the past 12 months.
Midfield blow forces Borthwick into late change for final Test

Steve Borthwick was forced to make a late change to his starting lineup for this weekend’s clash against Argentina after Fraser Dingwall picked up an injury during the match against New Zealand.
As a result, Max Omojah has been called up, and he will make up half of the centre pairing alongside Henry Slade. Elliot Daly is set to feature for the Red Rose for the first time since fracturing his arm while representing the British & Irish Lions during their tour of Australia.
Tom Roebuck, Ollie Lawrence and Jamie George all sustained year-ending injuries against the All Blacks and are ruled out this week. Luke Cowan-Dickie comes in at hooker, and Ben Spencer will line up at scrum-half with Alex Mitchell dropping to the bench.
Meanwhile, Contepomi has made five changes to the squad that pulled off that heroic effort at Murrayfield last week, with the headline being Thomas Albornoz replacing Geronimo Prisciantelli at fly-half.
Justo Piccardo comes in for Santiago Chocobares, Bautista Delguy takes over from Mateo Carreras out wide, and Marcos Kremer starts at openside flanker, with Santiago Grodona and Juan Martin Gonzalez switching positions in the back row.
