Zebre Parma face a tough test hosting last year's finalists Ulster in an all-URC Challenge Cup opener on Saturday at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi. Ulster won six of their eight Challenge Cup matches and have beaten Zebre eight times in their last nine meetings, making us favor the away side in our prediction.
Zebre Parma finished bottom of the URC standings last season with 16 defeats in 18 matches. Their prospects do not look any brighter this season, with the team suffering wide-margin losses in their opening three matches, including a 29–12 home defeat to Edinburgh last weekend.
Saturday's Challenge Cup opener will not be any easier for Massimo Brunello's team. They have lost eight of their last nine encounters with Ulster, including each of their last four meetings with the visitors at Stadio Sergio Lanfranchi.
Ulster reached the final of the competition last season before losing 59–26 to French side Montpellier. They drew 26–26 with Munster in the URC at the weekend, extending their wait for a first win in domestic league action after three matches (D2, L1).
However, the Ulstermen are the favorites here, having the upper hand in previous meetings with Zebre. They won six of their eight Challenge Cup fixtures last season.
