Two of the earliest nations to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, the USA and Korea, will face off in an international friendly. This match, scheduled for Saturday, is the first between the two in over a decade. Read on for our prediction.

The USA will play host in this game, looking to rise from their Gold Cup defeat to Mexico in July. While Mauricio Pochettino’s charges reached the Gold Cup final, they were thought to still be short.

To address that, Christian Pulisic is among the players drafted back into the team. The 2026 World Cup co-hosts lost five of their last 10 matches and won four. They suffered defeat in their last two friendly matches, conceding six goals.

While the USA booked their World Cup slot as hosts, Korea were among the first confirmed from Asia. They went into the EAFF tournament in July to kick off their preparations and won two of the three matches they played.

In the most recent, they lost 1-0 to Japan. Before that loss to the Blue Samurai, Korea had gone unbeaten in 16 matches, rising from that shock loss to Jordan in the Asian Cup.

In such shape, Korea will be gunning for a first win over the USA in over two decades. The Asian nation has failed to win any of the three meetings with the USA since their 2001 friendly victory.
