We'll have an unseeded player in the last 16 of this Masters 1000 tournament at Indian Wells. Qualifier Thiago Seyboth Wild takes on unseeded Fabian Marozsan with the winners next to face either 31st seed Felix Auger-Aliassime or second seeded Carlos Alcaraz. At the start of this outdoor hard court tournament Wild was ranked a career high 65th but he's down ten places in the live rankings at the time of writing this preview. That's because he's about to lose the ranking points earned when winning a Challenger Tour event last March. Wild made a poor start to the new year winning just one of his first seven matches. Improved form began with a run to the last eight of the Rio clay court tournament. He's carried that form to the hard courts of Indian Wells with four wins so far this week. He won both his qualifying matches in straight sets. In the main draw he's won both his matches without dropping a set and in round two beat the 15th seed Karen Khachanov.

Fabian Marozsan also likes the month of March as he won a Challenger Tour event 12 months ago. He's down a couple of places in the live list from the 58th position he held when this tournament began. The Hungarian also beat a seeded player in round two. After a straight sets win over lucky loser Jurij Rodionov in round one, he beat 24th seeded Nicolas Jarry in the last 64. He had to do it the hard way after losing the first set. Marozsan also made a slow start to the year but then got to round three of the Australian Open. Another poor spell followed and this is only the second time all year that he's won two consecutive matches in a tournament. Wild looks in the better form and can get the win here.
