Lions vs DHL Stormers Prediction & Betting Tips - Currie Cup

The race for the top four comes to a head as sixth-placed Fidelity ADT Lions and fifth-placed Stormers XXIII round off their 2026 Currie Cup league phase campaigns on Friday at Ellis Park Stadium. Lions have won each of their last three Currie Cup meetings with Stormers by blowout margins, including seven of their last nine home fixtures in the competition, leading us to back them for a comfortable victory. 

Fidelity ADT Lions ended their run of back-to-back defeats with a 22–22 away draw against Sharks XV last week. That result has left them just one point outside the top four with one round remaining, and a win on Friday could see them qualify for the play-offs. 

Notably, the Johannesburg-based outfit headed into this clash as favorites despite setbacks in their last three outings. They have won seven of their last nine matches at Ellis Park Stadium by wide margins. 

Stormers XXIII strengthened their play-off bid by moving level on 16 points with fourth-placed Boland Kavaliers in the standings after easing past bottom-placed Blue Bulls 50–26 in their last match. 

However, Tom Dawson-Squibb's side are set for a far sterner challenge in Friday's clash. They have lost each of their last three Currie Cup matches against Lions by heavy margins and have also suffered defeat in nine of their last 10 away fixtures since 2024.
