Croatia are fourth in Main Round Group II of the Men’s European Handball Championships. Their second of four games in this group sees them take on bottom-placed Switzerland. Can the Swiss win? Read our match prediction.
The top two in the group go into the semi-finals. Croatia are only behind second-placed Iceland and Slovenia who are third on goal difference.
The Preliminary Round saw them finish second behind Sweden (currently top of this group) by two points. They beat Georgia and the Netherlands before losing to the Swedes by an eight goal margin.
Croatia didn’t carry any points forward into the Main Round. They boosted their qualification hopes with a 30-29 victory over Iceland. Croatia last reached the semi-finals of these championships in 2020 but were the losing finalists in last year’s World Championships.
Switzerland needs to start winning matches if they want to reach the last four. The Swiss team were second behind Slovenia in Preliminary Round Group D.
They drew with Faroe Islands and lost to Slovenia (after leading by nine goals) before clinching qualification with a win over Montenegro. The Main Group began with a match against Hungary and they led by six goals but ended up drawing.
