Portugal and Denmark will meet in the UEFA Nations League at Estádio do Dragão in their final match of this international break on Sunday evening. These two played to a 2-1 scoreline in Oslo a week ago, and our prediction is that both teams will get on the scoresheet in this match as well.

A Seleção das Quinas maintained their spot at the top of the Group A4 standings with an impressive victory over Denmark on Thursday evening. While off-field issues - particularly the situation surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the camp - have given Jorge Jesus plenty to think about, ending the international break with a perfect record will certainly help ease fans’ concerns and discontent.

The Vikings, on the other hand, were on the wrong side of the biggest upset in this group on Thursday night when they suffered defeat to Wales in Cardiff. Three points will be crucial for Ståle Solbakken’s side to ensure they do not end the international break bottom of the group, but they are winless in their last three matches against the reigning UNL champions. Let’s get into the key stats!

Portugal - Norway: Form Analysis

Portugal will be hoping to end the first international break of the season with their perfect record intact following wins against Wales (1-0), Norway (2-1) and most recently Denmark (4-2) on Thursday night.

Against the Danes last time out, A Seleção das Quinas only had 46% possession, but still overperformed their 2.25 xG, recorded 30 touches in the opposition box, and fired 10 shots on target.

This week’s hosts have now lost only one of their last 13 matches in all competitions and are unbeaten in their last 11 home games (W10 D1) since a 2-1 friendly loss against Croatia in June 2024.

Portugal beat Norway 2-1 in Oslo last weekend!

Meanwhile, Norway kicked off their UNL campaign with an impressive 3-2 victory over Denmark before suffering back-to-back 2-1 defeats to Portugal last weekend and Wales on Thursday night.

The Red, White, and Blues were reduced to 10 men midway through the last match and struggled to breach Wales’ low block in the second half, creating just two big chances and finishing with 1.30 xG.

The visitors have won five of their last eight away games in all competitions (D1 L2). However, the last time they beat their upcoming opponents was during Euro qualifying back in September 2010.

Portugal & Norway Squad Analysis

A day after Cristiano Ronaldo left the squad, the famous number seven jersey was handed to Rafael Leão against Denmark. CR7 will not be a part of this match, and his future with the national team remains uncertain.

In the absence of the global superstar, Joao Felix and Goncalo Ramos have been tasked with leading the team’s attack. Both players were on the scoresheet on Thursday, with Felix having now scored in all three games in this international window.

Francisco Conceicao picked up a knock against Norway last weekend, which forced him to sit out the last match, and he is expected to be sidelined for this one as well.

Joao Felix and Erling Haaland are joint leading scorers in League A of the UNL!

Haaland will be looking for a better showing here, though. The Man City marksman had a quiet evening in Cardiff on Thursday, recording just five touches in the opposition box and one shot on target, while ending the match with 0.35 xG.

Much of the lack of supply to Haaland was due to the sending-off of Torbjorn Heggem at the start of the second half. Leo Ostigard is the most likely to step into defence this week with Heggem now suspended.

Julian Ryerson lasted just 16 minutes before suffering an injury against Wales. The extent of the right-back’s injury has not been revealed as yet, but he is expected to miss this match.

Our Portugal vs Norway Prediction

While the future of CR7 remains up in the air, Portugal have still fared well without the global superstar. They are the favourites in this match, having beaten this opponent a week ago and not lost a home match since June 2024.

However, while Norway have lost their last two games ahead of this one, they still have one of the most lethal attacking units in world football, and we fancy them to get on the scoresheet here even if it is in defeat. Our Portugal vs Norway prediction is BTTS.
