With two games to play in Group II of the Men’s European Handball Championships, Sweden still have work to do to qualify. Their penultimate fixture is against Hungary who need to avoid defeat here. Time for our match prediction.
Before this game begins, the other two group games will be played. Sweden will begin the day in second, behind Iceland on goal difference. The top two qualify for the last four but the Swedes are only ahead of Slovenia and Croatia on goal difference.
With Slovenia facing Croatia, the Swedes won’t be in the top two when this game gets underway. Their last match saw them beaten by Iceland after winning all their Preliminary Round games.
Hungary are fifth in the group and after their loss to Croatia at the weekend were three points adrift of fourth place. They would be unable to qualify for the last four if Iceland beat Switzerland and there’s a winner in the match between Slovenia and Croatia.
The Hungarians won two of their Preliminary Round games but lost to Iceland. Their opening Main Round match saw them come from six goals down to draw with Switzerland. They then lost to Croatia after leading at half-time.
