Alexander Bublik, the lowest-ranked player still at the French Open, will face off with the best-ranked in the third quarter-final. Bublik and Jannik Sinner meet for the fifth time, with the winner to face Alexander Zverev or Novak Djokovic. Read on for our prediction of the match.

Sinner is expected to sail through easily here, but Bublik has proven he is not a pushover. The Italian has lost only once this season, against an equally formidable opponent – Carlos Alcaraz.

That defeat in the Italian Open final is his only one in 34 matches. He hasn’t dropped a set in Paris so far.

Since the start of 2024, Sinner has won three Grand Slam titles. That is the kind of opponent Bublik aims to upset. The world No. 62 has already claimed wins against two top 10 players in Paris – Alex De Minaur and, in the last match, Jack Draper.

Against the two, he dropped three sets. Across his last 12 outings, Bublik only failed to win a set once, and he will look at that for inspiration.

More motivation will come from the fact that he beat Sinner in the latest meeting between them. However, he still trails 3-1 in this fixture. This being their first clash on clay, he’ll feel the urge to go for the kill.
