Sebastian Korda is seeded 28th for the ATP Masters 100 Miami Open. He takes on qualifier Roberto Bautista Agut for a place in the last 32 against either eighth seed Hubert Hurkacz or unseeded Alexander Shevchenko. Korda is the world number 29 and reached the quarter finals of this outdoor hard court tournament three years ago. He's 34th in the Live ATP Race, 46 places ahead of his opponent. His form on outdoor hard courts has been consistent this year with a semi-final reached in Adelaide at the start of the year. He also made it to the last eight in Dubai and the last 32 at Indian Wells, taking a set off Danill Medvedev in defeat. He leads Agut 3-0 in previous meetings and has only dropped one set against him. Their most recent match was last year on an outdoor hard court in Adelaide with Korda winning in straight sets.

Roberto Bautista Agut beat fellow qualifier Emilio Nava in straight sets in round one. He had to win two matches to qualify for the main draw, dropping a set in the second of those. Agut is a former top ten ranked player (back in 2019) but began this tournament in 100th position. The Spaniard is up to 91st after his first round win. At the start of this year he got to the last eight in Hong Kong but has struggled for consistency since then and failed to win two main draw matches in a tournament.
