Off the back of an inconsistent season, Sebastian Baez seeks to make his season tick at the US Open. He faces Lloyd Harris in the first round to mark their first career meeting. Let's look at our prediction for this match. Unseeded Baez is up against Harris, who is competing as a qualifier. 

Baez is having an inconsistent year and has currently lost one more match than the 19 he has won. The Argentine, who has won just once in his last 10 outings, is coming off a second-round exit in Winston-Salem.

Baez made his US Open debut in 2022 and a year later recorded his best finish at a major by making the third round. A clay court specialist, Baez, who is up to 39th in the live ranking, was crowned champion in Rio earlier in the year.

Lloyd Harris is back in Flushing Meadows after missing last year’s event. Injuries have derailed the South African over the last couple of years. He's struggled this season, currently with a 13-14 record.

The 28-year-old, a former US Open quarter-finalist, will hope to replicate such success as he seeks to spark his campaign. Harris was in great form in the qualifying rounds, winning his three matches with just one set lost.

Among those to fall to his racket was two-time tour champion Dan Evans. Harris will start the week outside the ATP’s top 350.
