Last season’s Challenge Cup semi-finalists, Scarlets will host debutants Black Lion in the competition on Friday. Both sides are smarting from opening Challenge Cup defeats which left Scarlets sixth in Group 3 while Lion are two places above. Their inconsistent league campaign came to the fore in their last outing as they beat Cardiff to halt their three-game losing streak.

Lion were handed a tough welcome to the Challenge Cup, losing 10-15 to Gloucester but collected a losing bonus point. The Georgian side are giants in the Europe Super Cup winning the last two editions. An invitation earned them a maiden place in the Challenge Cup and they are out to fly the Georgian flag high. The fledgling side formed in 2021 is on fire having gone on an eight-game winning streak in their league. This hot streak has seen them book another place in the European Super Cup grand finale against Tel Aviv Heat.
