Romania and Denmark will face off in the preliminary round at the 2026 European Men’s Handball Championship on Sunday afternoon. The Romanian’s are third in Group B, while the Danes lead the group standings. Let’s get into the match prediction.

Romania’s Euro Championship campaign began with a defeat to Portugal. They took an early lead in the match at 4-2 but were eventually beaten 40-34 by the final whistle.

Daniel Stanciuc was the standout performer for the team, scoring eight goals from 14 shots, while Andrei Buzle added six goals. Ionut Iancu made eight saves from 35 shots. 

Romania have won five of their last 10 games in all competitions (D1 L4) but have not beaten their upcoming opponents in two previous encounters.

Meanwhile, in front of a packed home crowd in Herning, Denmark got their campaign off to a winning start, taking a 17-12 halftime lead over North Macedonia en route to a 36-24 victory. 

Simon Pytlick netted nine goals from 11 shots, followed by Mathias Gidsel with eight goals. Emil Nielsen was assured in goal and ended with 10 saves from 30 shots. 

Denmark have won 12 of their last 15 games, which included winning the World Championship for a second time in succession last year.
