French giants PSG will host Monaco at the Parc des Princes in the biggest game in Ligue 1 this weekend. Second placed PSG have 54 points and will be eying a return to the top as they trail Lille by a point. Meanwhile, Monaco are placed fourth with 49 points and an inferior goal difference means they can’t rise from their current position even with a win. The hosts are in top form and coming from a 4-1 win in Barcelona in the Champions League, they will be charged up for this clash. They lost 3-2 to Monaco in their earlier league meeting and will be hoping to avoid a second loss to them. In the last 10 matches PSG have nine wins and one loss. That loss – to Lorient – came as a shocker, but the Parisians have recovered with three straight wins. They have also scored at least twice in their last five league matches. In total, they have 13 goals in their last five matches and conceded four. PSG go to this match holding the league’s best scoring record and are joint best in defence. At home, they have six straight wins ahead of this game, having recovered from an early slump in the season. The champions will still be without Neymar and Angel di Maria in this game. However, Kylian Mbappe and Moise Kean have done the job well in attack. The two forwards have a combined 26 league goals this season.

Monaco have been in top form lately and head to this game with an undefeated run of 11 matches. They have won nine of those and after a few seasons of underperformance, they are serious contenders for a return to the Champions League. Monaco are the second best scorers in the league, after PSG. However, defensively, they’ve not been up to it, letting in 37 goals, which is more than twice the tally of goals PSG have conceded. That tally makes them the poorest in defence among the top eight teams. Ben Yedder has been Monaco’s go to man for the goals this season – he has 13 in the league, three behind Ligue 1 top scorer Mbappe. In the league, Monaco have no loss in the last 10 matches, and have five straight away wins. However, in the last 12 away league matches, they’ve kept just two clean sheets.
