The main round at the 2026 European Championship resumes on Monday with Portugal taking on Norway. Portugal are fifth in the main round standings, while Norway are fourth. Let’s get into the match prediction.
After winning their group with an unbeaten record in the preliminary round, Portugal have found it tough to continue in that vein in the main round of the 2026 Euro Championship.
In their two games at this stage, they lost to Germany 32-30 in their opener before falling to France 46-28 on Saturday. Francisco Coast still leads the team with 43 goals in the competition.
Portugal have now won five of their last 10 matches across all competitions (D2 L3), but they did beat their upcoming opponent 31-28 in their last meeting at the World Championships last year.
Meanwhile, Norway recorded two wins and a loss in their three preliminary round games and have split their two main round matches, beating Spain 35-34 before losing to Germany 30-28.
August Pedersen is the team’s top scorer in the competition to date with 33 goals from just 40 shots. He has the highest shot-to-goal conversion of any player with 30+ goals in the tournament.
Norway have split their last 10 games, five wins and five defeats. In the overall head-to-head standings, they lead Portugal 3-2.

Our Portugal vs Norway Prediction
Portugal have found it difficult to find the type of success they enjoyed earlier in the competition in the main round, and they will need a much better performance here than they delivered in their last game against France.
Norway will be out for revenge here, having lost to this opponent at the World Championships last year. Matches between these sides have been very tightly contested over the years, and we’re expecting the same in this one. Our Portugal vs Norway prediction is Norway +2.5.
