Northampton Saints begin their Premiership title defence by welcoming Newcastle Red Bulls to Franklin's Gardens in Round 1 of their 2026-27 campaign on Friday. Newcastle Red Bulls are the underdogs here but are unbeaten under head coach Dan McFarland and should be able to keep this close. Our prediction backs the visitors to at least cover the handicap.
It has not been the best of starts to the campaign for Northampton Saints this term after emerging Premiership champions last season. They enter this match on the back of a subdued start to their Premiership Cup campaign that has seen them lose their opening two fixtures in the competition, including a 29–14 defeat to Harlequins last time out.
