Two qualifiers face each other in the first round of the outdoor hard court Cincinnati Open. Martin Landaluce faces Patrick Kypson with the winner facing 21st seed Alexei Popyrin in round two. Here's our first round match prediction.

Martin Landaluce had two tough three-setters in the qualifying rounds. He beat Cristian Garin and Arthur Fery with five-and-a-half hours spent on court. Those wins have taken the 19-year-old to 142nd in the live rankings, nine below his career-high.

The Spaniard has won eight of his 11 hard court matches played in 2025. He reached a Challenger Tour semi-final in Brisbane and then won three matches to qualify for the main draw of the Australian Open but then lost in round one.

Patrick Kypson has a 19-7 hard court record this year. The American also had to come through the qualifying rounds. Wins came against Matteo Gigante and Aleksandar Vukic, the latter needing two tie-breaks for the straight sets victory.

Those wins ended a run of poor results, having lost five of his last six matches, all but one on hard courts.  On this surface in 2025, he's won one Challenger Tour title with two other semi-finals at that level.
