Lyon will be looking to continue their perfect French Ligue 1 start when they entertain Metz this weekend. They enter this matchday two tie in fourth place, while Metz are 14th. Our prediction for this match follows below.
Lyon began their campaign on a winning note thanks to a 1-0 success away to Lens. Georges Mikautadze scored the lone goal, picking up from where he left off last season.
The Georgian is a former Metz player and will be one to look out for here. Les Gones haven’t lost to their visitors in the last three meetings, winning twice. Lyon ended last season by winning five of their final six league fixtures.
Metz are back in the top flight after one season in Ligue 2. Stephane Le Mignan’s men finished last season in third place with 65 points and sealed promotion via the playoffs. That did not translate into matchday one success.
Les Grenats fell by a solitary goal at home to Strasbourg. Metz have won just one of the last five meetings with Lyon and last won away in this fixture four years ago.
