The second half of day two at the 2025 Darts World Grand Prix gets underway with a blockbuster match-up between two young guns, Luke Littler and Gian van Veen. The Nuke is ranked second, while the Giant is 15th, according to the PDC World Rankings as of the cut-off date. Let’s get into the match prediction!
Luke Littler has dominated most tournaments since bursting onto the scene, but he suffered a shock first-round elimination at the Darts World Grand Prix last year, losing to Rob Cross.
The Nuke is having another excellent year, having won the World Championship, UK Open, Belgian Darts Open, as well as the Australia and New Zealand Darts Masters.
Littler did not participate in the Players Championship events over the last few weeks. He has won 12 of his last 15 matches across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Gian van Veen has not had the same sort of success as Littler since turning pro, but he is still one of the most exciting prospects in the game today.
The Giant claimed his maiden PDC title at the PC6 tournament this year by beating Luke Humphries and toppled the world number one again at the World Matchplay in Blackpool.
Van Veen lost to Niels Zonneveld in the third round of PC30 last week, but he has a positive record of seven wins and three defeats in his last 10 matches.

Our Luke Littler vs Gian van Veen Prediction
As is the case in most competitions that he features in, Luke Littler is the favourite to win the Darts World Grand Prix this year, and few can argue that fact, given his record over the past 12 months.
However, since these two turned pro, Gian van Veen has beaten Littler in three of their four encounters, including last month on the European Tour. We still fancy the Nuke to win this match, but we expect the Dutchman to secure at least a set. Our Luke Littler vs Gian van Veen prediction is over 2.5 sets.
