Lucas Pouille has been rolling back the years so far at Wimbledon. He had to qualify for this tournament and now faces ninth-seeded Alex de Minaur in round three. The Frenchman won his three qualifying matches without dropping a set.

It’s eight years since he reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and also in New York. Pouille also reached the last four of the Australian Open in 2019. However, this is the first time he’s made the third round of a Grand Slam since Wimbledon five years ago.

In the main draw, he had to go to five sets to get past Laslo Djere in round one. He  had to win the last two sets but did so for the loss of only four games. Round two saw him level at 1-1 with Thanasi Kokkinakis when the Australian retired.

Pouille is up to 147th in the live rankings after being outside the top 200 before this tournament. He's climbed to 102nd in the ATP Race. Now he faces another Australian and has a much tougher task.

Alex de Minaur has already won the Libema Open grass court tournament this year. That was his second title on this surface having won in Eastbourne three years ago.

A win over Pouille will equal his best of reaching the fourth round as he did a couple of years ago. It’s gone well so far this year with wins over lucky loser James Duckworth and unseeded Jaume Munar. Both were in straight sets and we tip him to beat Pouille without dropping a set.
