Felix-Auger Aliassime and  Lorenzo Musetti have to get over the disappointment of their semi-final defeats on Friday. They face each other on Saturday for the bronze medal in this Olympic tournament. Here's our prediction of this match.

The play-off for third place is sometimes a meaningless affair. Not so in this Olympic tennis tournament and there’s a lot to play for. Felix Auger-Aliassime bids to win a bronze medal for Canada and it’d be the highlight of what has already been a successful year for him.

He’d slipped down the rankings and was as low as 36th at one time. Now he’s 19th and in with a chance of a bronze at the Olympics. He’d beaten Daniil Medvedev and Casper Ruud on his way to the last four but was then no match for second seed Carlos Alcaraz, winning just two games.

He leads Musetti 3-2 in previous meetings but this is their first match since 2022. On clay, Musetti has won two of their three matches. The Italian will be hoping to make it three and win the bronze medal for the Italian team.

Musetti has been so consistent in recent weeks with five successive semi-final appearances. Two of those saw him have to face Novak Djokovic though. That was the case this week and he lost to the Serb in straight sets.

Before that defeat, he'd beaten two seeded players, namely Taylor Fritz and defending champion Alexander Zverev. We tip Musetti to win this match and the bronze medal.
