Leicester Tigers kick off their 2026-27 Premiership Rugby campaign by playing host to Saracens on Sunday at Welford Road. Tigers put together an impressive run of eight wins in nine Premiership matches at Welford Road last season and have won three of their last four meetings with Saracens, leading us to favour Leicester Tigers in our prediction.
Leicester Tigers’ Premiership campaign last season ended in the semi-final following a 14-point defeat to eventual champions Northampton Saints. Tigers remain one of the teams to watch as the new campaign gets underway.
Geoff Parling’s charges enter this match off back-to-back defeats in their opening two Premiership Cup matches, including a shock 36–24 defeat to Newcastle Red Bulls last time out. However, they have won 10 of their last 12 matches across all competitions at Welford Road and put up an impressive 8–0–1 Premiership record at the venue last season.
Saracens finished six points outside the playoff places in the Premiership Rugby standings last season. They opened their campaign with a 96–42 Premiership Cup victory over Northampton Saints, but the real test awaits on Sunday.
Sarries have lost three of their last four meetings with Leicester Tigers. They fell 36–28 on their most recent Premiership visit to Welford Road, suffering their fifth defeat in their last six trips to the venue across all competitions.
