Stefanos Tsitsipas bids to reach the quarter finals at Indian Wells for the first time since 2021. To achieve that the 11th seed has to beat Jiri Lehecka who is the 32nd seeded player in this outdoor hard court tournament. Up for grabs is a place in the last eight against either third seed Jannik Sinner or 16th seeded Ben Shelton. Tsitsipas was ranked 11th at the start of this Masters 1000 tournament and remains in that place in the live rankings. In the Live ATP Race, the Greek is in 22nd position. He's yet to get past the quarter final stage of a tournament this year. He has reached the last eight in both Los Cabos and Acapulco in recent weeks. Both were played on outdoor hard courts as is this tournament. So far in Indian Wells, he's beaten qualiifer Lucas Pouille and 18th seed Frances Tiafoe without dropping a set.

Jiri Lehecka has lost both of his two previous matches against Stefanos Tsitsipas. Both were played in the last couple of years, the most recent being a straight sets win for Tsitsipas in the 2023 Australian Open. Lehecka is up to 29th in the live rankings, a rise of three places. He has won one tournament this year and that was on the outdoor hard courts of Adelaide in January. A quarter final in Dubai was also reached but he had to retire injured after only five games. This tournament started slowly for him as he had to come from a set down to beat wild card Brandon Nakashima. Round three saw him cause a shock with a straight sets win over fifth seed Andrey Rublev.
