Round four in the 2024 Six Nations will get underway, with Italy playing host to Scotland on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are currently at the bottom of the Championship table, while the visitors are second. Despite being significant underdogs, Italy managed to secure a remarkable draw against France in Round three, with the game ending 13-13. They had a chance to clinch a rare victory, but a penalty attempt in the dying moments hit the post. Initially conceding the first 10 points, Italy fought back strongly, particularly in the second half when France were down to 14 men. In Round two, Italy suffered a heavy defeat against Ireland in Dublin, losing 36-0. However, in Round one, the Azzuri put up a valiant effort against England in Rome, where they were given a handicap of around 14.5 points. Despite leading 17-14 at halftime, England managed to come back and win 27-24. Italy scored three tries compared to England's two and earned a losing bonus point. While they remain at the bottom of the standings, Italy now have 3 log points, the same as Wales, whom they will face in the final round of matches.

Last round,  Scotland surged into second position on the log with a 30-21 home victory over England. Despite conceding the first ten points, they rallied to take a 17-14 lead. Duhan Van der Merwe played a pivotal role, scoring all three of Scotland's tries in the game. In Round two, the Scots suffered a controversial 20-16 defeat to France at Murrayfield. Although they led 13-10 at halftime and dominated much of the first half, France managed to pull ahead on the scoreboard with a 70th-minute try. Scotland believed they had scored the winning try at the death, but it was disallowed by the TMO, resulting in them settling for a losing bonus point. Scotland began their campaign with a thrilling 27-26 victory over Wales in Cardiff. They enjoyed a commanding 20-0 lead at halftime, extending it to 27-0 early in the second half. However, Wales staged a remarkable comeback, and Scotland had to hold on desperately in the closing moments. In the previous year's Six Nations, Scotland defeated Italy 26-14 at Murrayfield, and in 2022, they secured a 33-22 victory during their visit to Rome.
