England will want to have a much better Six Nations campaign than in 2023. They had wins at home against Italy and away at Wales but lost to the three teams that finished above them in the final table. That included the appalling 53-10 home loss to France. Going into the World Cup they had lost five of their last six games but then surprised everyone (perhaps even themselves) with a run to the last four where they lost to eventual winners South Africa. They then beat Argentina for the second time in the tournament to finish in third place. Now they begin their 2024 Six Nations campaign and are very short odds to win their opener in Italy. The two countries have met on 30 previous occasions and every single one has been won by England. The aggregate score in those games is 1197-356. The last visit to Italy was in 2022 and resulted in a 33-0 win for England. There have been plenty of changes since the World Cup but they can still get their Six Nations off to a winning start.

Italy again finished bottom of the Six Nations last season. They have so many wooden spoons now they could start their own Italian restaurant. All five of their matches in the 2023 Six Nations ended in defeat and with 149 points conceded. Their World Cup was extremely disappointing, especially a 96-17 loss to New Zealand and that was followed by a 60-7 defeat by host nation France. They did beat Namibia and Uruguay but failed to make it out of their pool. Only one of their last 20 Six Nations games has been won. That was a 22-21 win at Wales in 2022. They aren't quite so easy to beat on home soil but do end up losing in the end. We go for England to win this on a -12.5 point handicap.
