The quarter-finals of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball World Championship will kick off with Italy taking on Belgium on Wednesday afternoon. The winner of this match between Gli Azzurri and the Red Dragons will face either Poland or Turkey in the semis. Let’s get into the match prediction.
Italy are on course to defend their World Championship title, and a win here could mean they will meet Poland in the next round, which many consider could be this year’s title-decider.
While Gli Azzurri are the favourites in this contest, they were beaten 3-2 by this opponent during the group stage. However, they made light work of Argentina in the quarter-final, eliminating the South Americans 3-0 over the weekend.
Alessandro Michieletto put up 15 points in the quarter-final victory and is ranked inside the top 10 leading scorers in the competition with 50 points.
Meanwhile, this year’s World Championship has been a memorable one for Belgium, as they could record their best-ever finish at this competition. Their previous best was eighth back in 1970.
The Red Dragons shocked their opponents by winning their group before ousting Finland 3-0 in the quarter-final, where Ferre Reggers led the team with 20 points.
Reggers is also the highest-scoring player at the World Championship this year with 93 points, while captain Sam Deroo is ranked eighth with 63 points, including nine blocks.
