The Aviva Stadium in Dublin will witness an international friendly on Friday night as the Republic of Ireland return to action against Senegal. This match will be the first ever encounter between these teams and comes with our prediction of under 2.5 goals.
This is the first of the two friendlies for Ireland before they head off to Luxembourg. The hosts will be confident of their chances after winning their UEFA Nations League play-off promotion/relegation play-off against Bulgaria in March.
The twin 2-1 wins helped them keep their place in League B, and manager Heimir Hallgrimsson can now boast of three wins from the last four matches, including consecutive wins at this venue. With their World Cup qualification campaign not set to start until September, these friendlies are a good preparation for the upcoming games.
Senegal are likely to present a tough threat, as they look to make the most of their trip to the British Isles, as they play England in a friendly next Tuesday. They are unbeaten in their last 14 matches, and when considering only 90 minutes of action, the Africans are yet to lose in their last 20 matches in all competitions.
While they currently sit second in their World Cup qualification campaign, preparing for the upcoming top-of-the-table clash against DR Congo could do with a win here.

Our Ireland vs Senegal Prediction
Ireland are fresh off winning the playoffs in the UEFA Nations League that keeps them in League B, but Senegal bring richer form to this fixture. The African visitors haven’t lost in their last 14 matches in all competitions and friendlies. Most of those fixtures saw Senegal keep a clean sheet as well, so their defensive strengths could once again come to the fore on this trip. Ireland’s recent matches have also been low-scoring affairs recently, and that’s why our Ireland vs Senegal prediction is under 2.5.
