The final stage of La Vuelta is a short jaunt around Granada which finishes with laps of a near 10km route which includes a short and sharp climb which should make it a perfect hunting ground for Wout van Aert.

In 2025, the Tour de France deviated from the traditional flat out sprint loop in favour of one that included the climb of Montmartre. That day it was van Aert who came out on top, attacking with Tadej Pogacar and proving the stronger. 

His teammate Matthew Brennan has enjoyed a spectacular race, though he probably won’t get the same help here that he has to win his stages to this point. He is more than capable of getting over these climbs, however, so needs to be respected. 

Magnus Cort has taken four top five finishes so far on La Vuelta and this looks the right sort of terrain for his power to come into play once more. He has six stage wins in his career already in this race, and another would be no surprise.

It has also been an excellent race for Finn Fisher-Black. The New Zealander has been notching up plenty of top 10 finishes without quite being able to make the breakthrough, but he is more than capable of doing so if things go right for him.
