History can be made in the men's doubles final at Wimbledon on Saturday. The British pairing of Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool face Rinky Hijikata and David Pel in the final of this grass court tournament. Here's our match prediction.
Cash and Glasspool are the fifth seeds and they are the first all-British pairing (both are English) to contest the men's doubles final since 1960. You have to go to all the way back to 1936 for the last time a British doubles team lifted this trophy. As you will read in the form section of this preview, it is not a surprise that they have made it all the way to this title decider and are favorites to win.
It is a surprise that the pairing of Hijikata and Pel have made it to this men's doubles final. Hijikata is Australian and Pel hails from the Netherlands. The pair were not seeded for this tournament and were only given a place in the draw as alternates. Can they cause a major surprise and become champions?

Hijikata R / Pel D - Cash J / Glasspool L: Form Analysis
It's been a special Wimbledon for the south coast city of Brighton. Sonay Kartal made it to the last 16 of the women's singles and now Brighton-born Julian Cash is chasing men's doubles glory on Saturday.
Cash is tenth in the live ATP Men's Doubles rankings and his partner is four places higher on the list. The pair have already created history this summer by winning the doubles at the Queen's Club tournament. They followed that up with success in the Eastbourne grass court tournament.
Cash and Glasspool have won 13 matches in a row.
To reach this Wimbledon final, Cash and Glasspool have had to win five matches. Only one set has been lost and that was in their quarter-final against seventh seeds (and defending champions) Harri Heliovaara and Henry Patten. 13 successive matches have now been won by the pair
Ricky Hijikata and David Pel have beaten three seeds to reach this final. Their best win came in the semi-finals when knocking out top seeded Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic. That was a marathon match with all three sets going to a tie-break.
Just as in round one, Hijikata and Pel had to come from behind to get the win. They nearly lost in round one and had to save two match points to stay in the tournament. Hijikata is 60th in the live rankings with his partner in 37th position.

Experience is vital in doubles tournaments and it is the pairing of Cash and Grasspool that have the advantage here. They have already won two grass court tournaments this summer and teamed up in the two other Grand Slam tournaments played this year.
That is not the case with the pairing of Hijikata and Pel. They had never teamed up before this tournament and so nearly made a first round exit. They have improved during the tournament but face a massive task here against a very in-form team.
Can the Cash and Glasspool serve be broken?
Cash and Glasspool will want to serve as they did in Thursday's semi-final. A fantastic 11 aces were served without any double faults or games dropped and an average first serve of 189 km/hr. 89% of their first service points were won and a repetition of that will make them very hard to beat in this final.
Hijikata and Pel took just over three hours to win their semi-final. 14 double faults were served and only 68% of service points were won. Those statistics have to be improved on in this title decider.
