Heracles will play host to Dutch giants Ajax in their next Eredivisie match, scheduled for this Sunday. As Heraclieden look to recover from a loss, de Godenzonen will be seeking to continue with their steady rise. Four points stand between the two sides and here’s our prediction for the match.

12th placed Heracles went into the international break having lost 4-1 to Go Ahead Eagles. Their third defeat of the league left them on nine points from eight matches. The break has presumably given them time to recover and reflect.

As they look to rise again, they’ll also know they head into this game as the underdogs, being winless in six against Ajax. The hosts also have one win in the last seven Eredivisie matches they hosted.

Ajax continued with their ascent in the Eredivisie last time out, beating Groningen 3-1 at home. In a match they seemed to have let the points slip away, Ajax scored two stoppage time goals to secure the win.

It looked like Jorg Schreuders’ equalizer 20 minutes from time would settle the match but fortune smiled at hosts Ajax. Wout Weghorst and Chuba Akpom scored late goals to ensure Francesco Farioli’s side goes eight matches undefeated.

Six of those are wins, and in four they managed clean sheets. Replicating that good run away from home has been Ajax’s biggest problem. The Dutch giants have just three wins in 10 league matches on the road, and kept one clean sheet in 18.
