Griffons vs Western Province Prediction & Betting Tips - Currie Cup

South African rugby fans will be in for a treat this weekend as the Currie Cup enters the 10th round of matches, starting with the Griffons hosting Western Province at North Harbour Stadium on Friday afternoon. The Griffons have struggled in this tournament and are likely to play out the balance of their matches for pride, as it will take a miracle for them to reach the top four from the position they are currently in. The hosts are currently rock-bottom of the Currie Cup standings with eight points after nine matches, 15 points off the top four. The Griffons were beaten convincingly last weekend 45-23 by the Pumas, which was their fifth consecutive defeat in this tournament. The hosts have lost eight and won just one of their nine matches this season, though they have picked up four bonus points along the way. The hosts have done little to impress in this tournament to date and are likely to find it difficult in this one as well. 

Meanwhile, Western Province will be hoping to bounce back from disappointment in their last match against the current log leaders, the Free State Cheetahs, in this one. The visitors put on a solid showing in that match, but despite looking like they could go on to win it on several occasions, they came up just short, losing 26-21 at the final whistle. Western Province are now fifth in the standings, with 22 points, just one point behind Griquas in fourth and 14 off the leaders. To date, Western Province have won four and lost five of their nine matches, though they have failed to win any of their last three away matches. The visitors won the reverse fixture last month and will be expecting another win here as they look to break into the coveted top four spots.
