Group D at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations gets underway in midweek with Ghana taking on Cape Verde in Casablanca. The Black Queens are unbeaten in six games, and we’re going for them to extend that record here as our main prediction.
Ghana are one of the dark horses in the 2026 WAFCON. This is their 12th appearance in the competition, and they have finished as runners-up on three occasions (1998, 2002, and 2006).
The Black Queens have been in excellent form in the lead-up to the competition. They beat Malawi 4-0 last week and have yet to lose a match in 2026, winning five and drawing one.
Perhaps more impressively, Ghana have not conceded a single goal this year, while having only been breached by England in their last nine games across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Cape Verde are making their WAFCON debut this year and will be hoping to make their mark on the tournament as the men’s team did at the AFCON and the 2026 World Cup.
However, the Blue Sharks have not been in the best shape leading up to this competition, now winless in their last four matches (D1 L3) after losing 5-0 to Morocco in their warm-up game.
Additionally, Cape Verde failed to score a single goal in any of those four matches but conceded 11.
