Germany take on defending champions France in the Men’s European Handball Championships. The Germans are second in this Main Round Group and France must win to qualify for the semi-finals. Time for our match prediction.
Monday saw Germany beaten 31-26 by Denmark. The Danes have now qualified for the semi-finals and Germany will join them if they can avoid defeat in this match as they lead the French side by two points.
Germany won Preliminary Round Group A with wins over Austria and Spain but were beaten by Serbia after leading by four points at half-time. They defeated Portugal and Norway (coming from behind) before the loss to Denmark.
France will be dethroned as European champions if they fail to win this match. A win will see them qualify on head-to-head results with Germany. The French side won all three of their Preliminary Round matches ending with a goal difference of +38.
Wins came against the Czech Republic and Ukraine (scoring 88 goals) before a 38-34 win over Norway. In the Main Round, the title holders lost to hosts Denmark before beating Portugal. Monday saw them beaten by Spain to put them at risk of failing to reach the semi-finals.
This is going to be close and we tip Germany to win with a +3.5 handicap.
