France begin the defence of their Six Nations title on a Thursday night. The historic fixture sees them host Ireland who finished in third place behind Les Bleus in 2025. Can they get a win in Paris? Read our match prediction below.
Last year saw France win four of their five Six Nations fixtures. It was so nearly a Grand Slam but they were beaten by a single point in their away game against England. That didn't stop them winning the title by a point from England.
France played Ireland in Dublin last year and came away with a 42-27 victory.
That ended a run of two losses to Ireland for the XV of France. After a loss to world champions South Africa last November, France (who now have Antoine Dupont back) beat Australia and Fiji.
Ireland also won four of their five matches in the 2025 Six Nations, their only loss being that home defeat inflicted by France. Their form since then hasn't been so good with losses to New Zealand and South Africa in the Autumn Internationals, both on home soil.
The Irish squad is missing several keys players and critics believe they are an ageing team past its peak.
