Defending champions Suzuki Griquas face their toughest test in the 2026 Currie Cup traveling to face Airlink Pumas in the penultimate round on Friday at Mbombela Stadium. They have lost each of their last six Currie Cup meetings with Pumas, including two of their last three away fixtures, which is why our prediction favors the hosts.

Airlink Pumas have turned their fortunes around after losing their opening two games. They enter this clash with three consecutive wins, including a dominant 29–7 victory over Stormers XXIII last week. 

Last week's victory lifted Jimmy Stonehouse's men to third in the standings with 17 points, reducing the gap to second-placed Cheetahs to four points. They have won each of their last six Currie Cup meetings with Suzuki Griquas and could strengthen their bid for a home seeding in the playoffs with a win. 

With two rounds left, Suzuki are still deep in the race for a top-two finish despite sitting at the top of the standings with 21 points. They rounded off their four-game stretch at home on a perfect note, securing a dominant 55–21 victory over Sharks XV last week. 

However, the Pieter Bergh-led team are likely to struggle to sustain that momentum on Friday. They have lost two of their last three away matches and have suffered defeat in each of their last three Currie Cup visits to Pumas.
