Airlink Pumas and Stormers XXIII go head-to-head in this 2026 Currie Cup Round 5 fixture on Saturday. Pumas have won their last two matches in the competition, while Stormers have lost each of their last eight away outings since the 2024 campaign, five of them by heavy margins, leading us to favour the hosts for a comfortable victory.

Airlink Pumas edged past Blue Bulls in a closely contested clash away at Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria last week to continue their winning ways. Alfondso Isaacs, Willie Engelbrecht and JJ Scheepers all scored tries as Pumas raced into a 19–14 lead at the interval before holding off the Bulls’ late rally to win 33–31. 

The Jimmy Stonehouse-led side have now won their last two matches, marking a drastic turnaround after their defeats in the opening two matches. They defeated Stormers 39–13 away in the last Currie Cup encounter between the two sides.

Stormers XXIII are one point behind Airlink Pumas in the standings after four rounds and will look to strengthen their playoff bid. They squandered a nine-point half-time lead and fell 31–26 to the visiting Cheetahs in their last game. 

That result marked their second defeat in the last three matches. Tom Dawson-Squibb’s side have suffered eight consecutive Currie Cup defeats on the road since since 2024, five of which by heavy margins.
