Felix Auger Aliassime vs Taro Daniel Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Munich Open

Fifth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime takes on unseeded Taro Daniel in round two of the BMW Open. This is a clay court tournament in Munich at the ATP 250 level. The winner goes into the last eight where they'll meet either fourth seed Jan-Lennard Struff or unseeded Botic van de Zandschulp. Auger-Aliassime had a marathon match in the first round when beating unseeded Maximilian Marterer. The Canadian lost the first set and all three went to a tie-break. In all, the match last three hours and 24 minutes. Auger-Aliassime is 34th in the live rankings so still a couple of places short of earning a seeding at Roland Garros. He'll want that to get a better draw for the Grand Slam. Only once has he reached the quarter-final of a tournament in 2024. That was indoors on a hard court. Clay form this year has seen him get to the second round in Monte Carlo where he was beaten by Lorenzo Sonego.

Taro Daniel has only had one previous match against Auger-Aliassime. That was played seven years ago on the Challenger Tour and he won't have happy memories of it. Daniel won just one game in that match. He began this tournament ranked 85th in the world but was as high as 58th in mid-January. Poor results in Acapulco and Indian Wells compared to 2023 is the main reason for his drop down the rankings. He has reached one final this year, a hard court event in Auckland. He's not gone so well since then though and after reaching that final, he won only one of his next seven matches. He played the Challenger Tour clay court event in Madrid last week but lost in his first match. This week has gone better with a straight sets win over Chris O'Connell. We tip Auger-Aliassime to win this match.
