England will aim to uphold their flawless record in the 2024 Six Nations as they welcome Wales to Twickenham Stadium for their second match of the tournament on Saturday. The hosts are in second place in the standings, while the visitors are fourth. England got their 2024 campaign started on a positive note, beating Italy 27-24 in Rome last week. Although they secured the championship in 2020, England has since encountered difficulties in posing a significant threat for the title, relinquishing their position to third place behind Scotland in the last edition. Amid a significant rebuilding phase, England fielded up to five debutants in their lineup last week. Initially caught off guard by Italy's passion and attacking prowess, they eventually rallied to secure victory in the closing stages of the match. However, Borthwick's team will take confidence from their improved second-half performance, and the momentum gained will be heading into this one. 

While England's performance in their first match of the competition in Rome left much to be desired, it paled in comparison to the shocking display exhibited by Wales in the first half in Cardiff against Scotland. The Dragons were utterly overwhelmed in the first half of the match, and after falling behind 27-0 just three minutes into the second period, it seemed inevitable that they were headed for a heavy defeat. However, Warren Gatland's team staged a remarkable comeback effort. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough as Scotland held on to a tense 27-26 victory. Despite the loss, the battling display on opening night would have provided plenty of positives and instilled confidence in the team. A stronger start on Saturday could enable them to challenge England throughout the match.
