Emma Raducanu will square off next with second seed Elina Svitolina at the Auckland Open. The two will battle in the second round with the winner setting up a quarterfinal showdown with Marie Bouzkova. Emma Raducanu is playing in Auckland as a wildcard and is back on the court after a nine-month hiatus due to injury. She defeated the qualifier Elena-Gabriela Ruse in three sets in the first round. She had a belated start to the season after taking some time off due to the birth of her first child. Making her season debut in March, Svitolina played 33 matches before her season ended prematurely in August. Despite all this, she did win one title as well as earn semifinal and quarterfinal finishes at Wimbledon and Roland Garros. Back on the court to start a new season, the current world number 25, defeated former Auckland finalist Caroline Wozniacki in round one. She won 2-0 to start her debut here on the perfect note.
