Ekaterina Alexandrova will look to turn the corner after the Seoul Open final heartbreak and setbacks in Beijing and Wuhan. The five-time WTA singles champion lost in three sets to World No. 5 Jessica Pegula in the Wuhan Open round of 16 in her most recent match.

However, she has won two of her last three matches in straight sets and boasts an impressive 13-7 record in her last 20 appearances on hard courts. 

Yue Yuan defeated 62nd-ranked Xinyu Wang in straight sets to advance to the Ningbo Open round of 16. She won 67% of her service games en route to a 6-3, 6-3 victory over the former World No. 32. 

However, the 27-year-old has endured mixed fortunes lately, alternating between wins and losses across her last six matches. Her results on hard courts are also a concern. She has lost five of her last eight appearances on the surface, including her last meeting with Ekaterina Alexandrova.
