12th seeded Hubert Hurkacz takes on unseeded David Goffin in the French Open third round. Hurkacz is in the third round at Roland Garros for the first time in his career. The past three visits have all seen him make a first round exit. That's strange because he has got talent on clay. This year has seen him get to the quarter final in both Monte Carlo and Madrid. He lost in the last 64 in Rome though and it was David Goffin who inflicted that defeat. There wasn't much in it though with Goffin winning both the sets on tie-breaks, so a bet on one in this match might be a good idea. Hurkacz was ranked 13th at the start of this tournament and is still in that position in the live rankings. He's had two straight sets wins in this tournament so far with victories over Giulio Zeppieri and Marco Cecchinato.

David Goffin has slipped down the world rankings in the past year. He began the French Open ranked 48th in the world but was 13th this time last year. In April he'd descended as low as 74th but began his rise back up the rankings by winning an ATP 250 clay court tournament in Marrakech. The highest ranked player beaten that week was Federico Coria who was in 60th place. Goffin also reached the last 16 in Monte Carlo. Madrid and in Rome. This week has seen the Belgian defeat Jiri Lehecka in four sets and then come from behind to beat 24th seeded Frances Tiafoe who has only ever won one match at Roland Garros. This is going to be tougher and the tip is for Hurkacz to get the win but it may take at least four sets to do so.
