Colo-Colo advanced to this stage after winning both legs in a 3-1 aggregate win over Colombian side Junior in the round of 16. After the second leg of that tie, Colo-Colo would go on to rip off another three wins in the Chilean Primera Division, bringing their winning streak to six matches total.
