Top seed Flavio Cobolli is attempting to reach his fourth ATP Tour final of the year. He takes on fellow Italian sixth seeded Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-final of the indoor hard court Grand Prix Auvergne-Rhône Alpes in Lyon. Cobolli is the higher ranked player and should be fresher than Musetti, so our prediction is he wins.
Whoever wins will be up against either Taylor Fritz or Tommy Paul in the final.
Cobolli was in poor form before this tournament with four successive defeats. The Italian has rediscovered his form with two wins this week. After beating Stan Wawrinka in straight sets, he had a tougher quarter-final. Cobolli lost the opening set to fifth-seeded Brandon Nakashima, but recovered to win in three sets.
Lorenzo Musetti had a late night on Friday as he took three sets to get past Luca Van Assche in his quarter-final. The Italian played two tie-breaks in that match.
He had previously beaten Matteo Arnaldi and Moise Kouame in straight sets. He’s reached one final this year, that was in the outdoor hard court tournament played in Hong Kong. Before this tournament, Musetti had been beaten in three of his last four matches. 2025 saw him get to the final of the Athens indoor hard court tournament, losing to Novak Djokovic in three sets.
