Just like season, Unai Emery has managed to overturn that slow start to the season. The Lions have won six of their last seven games, the other being a 1-1 home draw with Brentford. They are up to 12th in the Premier League after last week's win at Newcastle United. Midweek saw them continue their 100 percent start to the Champions League with a home victory over Viking.
Both teams have scored in seven of their last nine games and seven of the last nine at home in the English Premier League.

Manchester City have won all seven of their Premier League games this season. The Citizens lead the table by three points. They also won in midweek with a 5-1 home victory over AEK in the Champions League. Their last Premier League fixture produced a 3-2 win at home to Ipswich Town.

The good news for Manchester City is that Erling Haaland is fit to play in this Premier League game at Aston Villa. He has had some injury concerns in the past week or so and was only on the bench for City's midweek Champions League win against AEK. He's already scored 15 goals this season and scored twice in both of his last two games against PSG and Ipswich.
Spectacular return to form for Foden.
Phil Foden had gone 35 games without a goal, but he's bounced back to form in style in the past week. He was on the scoresheet against Ipswich and then hit a hat-trick against AEK. Villa will certainly have their hands full against both Foden and Haaland.
Not such good news for the league leaders is the news that Antoine Semenyo is going to be out of action for eight weeks due to a knee injury.
Aston Villa also won at home in the Champions League in midweek. They beat Viking 3-1 and that made it nine goals in their last two home fixtures in that competition. Not bad for a team who were struggling just to get on the scoresheet in their early league matches.
Home form has seen them unbeaten in their last three games, but only a point has been earned from their last three home league fixtures. They will be missing Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Ian Maatsen and Amadou Onana for this match. Villa will be hoping for more goals from Nicholas Jackson who has scored three goals in his last four matches.
