That's because in the semi-final of this indoor hard court tournament in Lyon, second seed Taylor Fritz faces fourth-seeded Tommy Paul. Tommy Paul is playing in his sixth ATP Tour semi-final of 2026. His form has been good in recent weeks with a run to the last eight of the Shanghai Masters, losing to Daniil Medvedev.
This week has seen him beat Benjamin Bonzi and Corentin Moutet, both matches going to a deciding set. In previous meetings, Paul leads Fritz 5-4 but trails 2-1 on this surface. Paul won the most recent indoor hard court match played five years ago.
Taylor Fritz has won five of his seven indoor hard court matches played this year. The second seed is hoping to reach his second final after making it to the title decider in Dallas. He hasn't been in good form of late though with four losses in five matches.
