Clermont vs Edinburgh Rugby Prediction & Betting Tips - Challenge Cup

Clermont open their European Rugby Challenge Cup with a home game against Edinburgh. This is a Pool C match and the other clubs trying to get to the knockout stages are: Black Lion, Castres, Gloucester and Scarlets. To progress to the knockout rounds, teams have fo secure a top four finish. Clermont are very much likely to do that and are currently eighth in Top 14. They will come into this game on a high after beating leaders Racing 92 at home in their most recent fixture played on December 2. That was a welcome win after two successive defeats but both were against sides higher than them in the table. Home form for Clermont has produced four wins from their Top 14 fixtures with the only loss being a 30-27 loss to Toulon. They have an excellent record in this competition, winning it three times, most recently in 2019.

Edinburgh are fifth in the United Rugby Championship, seven points behind leaders Leinster. Their most recent fixture saw them get a narrow away win at Ulster who have lost three of their last five matches. They have won five of their seven games in the United Rugby Championship with two away wins and a defeat at top-of-the-table Leinster by nine points. Last season saw them lose in the last 16 of the European Rugby Champions Cup and in this competition they've had a good record with four quarter finals and a runners-up spot in 2015. Like their opponents, they should get out of this pool without too much trouble but we go for Clermont to get the win this weekend.
