Clara Burel takes on Austrian wild card Sinja Kraus in the Upper Austria Linz Open first round. The winner of this match will be up against either unseeded Katerina Siniakova or the eighth seed Petra Martic. Burel is 52nd in the live rankings and that's just one place below her career high. The French player reached the last 32 of this year's Australian Open and that included a shock straight sets win over fifth seeded Jessica Pegula in the second round. Her run ended in round three losing to fellow French player Oceane Dodin. The 22-year-old had already made it to the last 16 of the Brisbane International. This good start to 2024 follows her strong finish to last year when winning a WTA 125 tournament in Angers.

Sinja Kraus will have the home fans cheering her on but it's tough to see her winning this match. Her career best is only 151st and she's 185th in the live rankings. This year hasn't gone well for her to date and this is her first time in a main draw thanks to her wild card. The 21-year-old lost to Daria Snigur in the first qualifying round of the Australian Open and only won three games. Since then she's reached the semi-final of an ITF tournament in Porto. This is a big step up though and we tip Burel to win in straight sets.
