Sixth seed Casper Ruud and the unseeded Jakub Mensik will square off in the second round at the Australian Open. The winner of their first career meeting will then duel with either Alejandro Davidovich Fokina or Felix Auger-Aliassime. Read on for our prediction of this match. 

Casper Ruud was forced to go the full distance in his opener by the unseeded Jaume Munar. He will seek to wrap up this tie faster and avoid another three-hour marathon. 

The world number six won his opening-round tie in Melbourne for the fourth successive time. Last season he fell in the third round and was unable to equal his fourth-round personal best. 

Rudd has won his three fixtures this season. 

Jakub Mensik has made it to the second round for the second successive year in Melbourne. He will now seek to tie his Grand Slam record by progressing to the third round. 

The Czech number three outdueled the qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili in four sets. He has now won five of his seven matches this season and sits in a career-high 48th place in the world rankings. 

Mensik made back-to-back quarter-finals finishes in Brisbane and Auckland in his opening two events of the season.
